Susan McGalla is an American business woman from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvaniawho founded P3 Executive Consulting. She is an expert consultant in matters relating to branding, and marketing among others. Moreover, Susan is a speaker and has made speeches on how to prosper in business as a woman in many functions such as at the Women and Girl’s Foundation of Pittsburgh among others.
Susan was raised in East Liverpool, Ohio in 1964 together with herfamily supported by her father who was a football coach. McGalla was raised by parents who encouraged her to work hard despite the audience or her gender. As a result of her background, Susan is always comfortable working with both genders towards excelling.
McGalla graduated with a degree in business and marketing from Mount Union College. After college, Susan joined Joseph Horne Company from 1986 to 1994 where she worked in various marketing and managerial positions. Later in 1994, she joined American Eagle Outfitters. She first worked as a divisional merchandise buyer for women’s clothing. At that time American Eagle Outfitters was a male dominated company with no women in executive positions or on the board. However, she worked hard and excelled in her career that was a lifetime experience for the enterprise.
At the American Eagle Outfitters, Susan held various positions and eventually became the president, and finally, she was appointed the chief merchandising officer of the entire company. She was responsible for the e-commerce site, the P&L, revenues of $3 billion and four brands including American Eagle Brand and 77 kids brand. She left American Eagle in 2009and became a private consultant for the financial and retail industries.
Susan took her career seriously, and now she is a consultant for top people in finance. In October 2009, she was chosen as a member of the Board of Directors of HFF Inc., a well-known company providing commercial real estate services. In January 2011 she became the chief executive officer of Wet Seal Inc. Susan McGalla currently works at the Business Strategy and Creative Development for the Pittsburgh Steelers as a Vice President.
Susan McGalla hopes women will not be hindered by their gender or be entitled to whatever prejudices that exist. She hopes women take her approach and attitude towards their careers. She believes in gender equality and is passionate about helping women succeed in business.
